My first “proper” race for Tri Reddi (& Team True Spirit!) on Sunday at Ironman 70.3 Staffordshire. This was part of a bigger plan but injury put play to that, so now to enjoy the day and the rain! It was nice to make the most of my AWA (All World Athlete) and register with the pro line.
Swim – I was the usual 10 secs/100m slower than I do in training. No idea why but it looses me a few minutes.
Bike – Its a bit up and down and lots of technical bits and turns. Dropped chain about 10k in and at about 35 mile had one of the mega downpours which turned some roads to mini rivers.
Run – Bit of a mudfest and as I was in a later wave I was having to weave around people in places. Support was great though!
So my hopeful aim of sub 5 was missed, but I finished in 5:09 which given the day, the lumpy bike and state of the run I was happy with it. Got to be realistic as well, as I lost the first two months of the year due to being in a cast, so to take that time now gives me a good lead to IM Weymouth.
