On a very cold Sunday morning on the 17th January I undertook along with a few others from Triathlon Redditch and the Arrow Parkrun community a well-established 12K run. When I left it was snowing in Redditch but by the time Stratford Upon Avon came into view no snow could be seen. The organisation of the event by Stratford upon Avon Athletic club was excellent from the paper timing chips, bag drop off and directions to the start which was a 1K jog away. Apparently the full complement of 660 runners had entered and along a very narrow lane we all lined up streaming back for a good 100 metres or so.
It’s a circular run ending back at the club house outside NFU Mutual. There are some undulating hills (don’t you just love that word which belies any pain you’re about to suffer !) ; one especially you can see after 5K but then there is, of course, the downhill descents where you can get some momentum and gain back energy lost on the uphill. The temperature was certainly no more than a couple of C and my three layers, leggings, hat and gloves did their utmost to keep out the chill.
Good water stations along the way twice, a free tee shirt at the end and more water. Good atmosphere, toilet facilities and challenging course and very good value for £15.
Tri club members Neil Ogden, Suz West and myself. There may have been others so excuse your omission.
